Trump: "Xi understands my position on Taiwan" ... expects "deals" for Cuba and Ukraine

[Financial News] U.S. President Donald Trump said on Oct. 26 (local time) that he discussed the Taiwan issue with Chinese President Xi Jinping at their summit meeting.
According to The Associated Press (AP) and other foreign media outlets, Trump spoke with reporters at the White House before boarding the presidential helicopter 'Marine One.' He said, "I did not discuss the Taiwan issue excessively with President Xi. He understands my position very well."
Xi had earlier said at a meeting on the 24th, "I hope the United States will maintain the correct position of opposing 'Taiwan independence' and handle the matter prudently." The United States has maintained that it does not support Taiwan independence, while China has gone a step further and continued to explicitly demand opposition to it. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also reiterated the call for the United States to maintain the correct position at a separate briefing on the 26th, emphasizing China's determination to safeguard national reunification and territorial integrity.
Meanwhile, Trump dismissed the possibility of military action against Cuba, saying, "I don't think military force will be necessary, and we will reach a deal through negotiations. Cuba is undergoing an extreme crisis, and we want to help them." Regarding the war in Ukraine, which has reached a stalemate, he predicted, "They will reach a deal in the not-too-distant future, before the bitterly cold winter arrives."
