Samdasoo's Renewable Energy and AI Travel Planning... Jeju's 17 Public Institutions Undergo Continuous Innovation Checks

【Financial News Jeju = Jeong Yong-bok】 Jeju Special Self-Governing Province has launched a cooperative system to continuously monitor innovation and safety tasks at 17 local public institutions. Leaders' meetings will be held every two months, while working-level meetings will take place monthly to track each institution's progress.
According to Jeju Special Self-Governing Province on the 26th, the first Jeju Public Institutions Responsible Innovation Meeting was held on the 23rd at Tamna Hall in the Jeju Special Self-Governing Provincial Office. Wi Seong-gon, governor of Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, Deputy Governor for Administrative Affairs Park Cheon-su, Deputy Governor for Climate and Economy Lee Chang-heum, heads of relevant departments and representatives of 17 local public institutions attended the meeting.
At the inaugural meeting, the institutions shared their respective implementation tasks, focusing on measures for responsible management innovation at public institutions and plans to create a safer Jeju.
Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will review the organizations and businesses of public institutions based on their founding purposes and core functions. It will pursue management innovation by concentrating personnel and financial resources on key projects.
The Responsible Innovation Meeting, attended by institutional heads, will be held every two months to review major issues and the progress of innovation tasks. A working-level meeting involving the province's coordinating department, supervisory departments and the heads of public institutions' management departments will be held monthly.

Each institution also presented its innovation tasks. Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development will gradually transition the Jeju Samdasoo plant to renewable energy and pursue green remodeling of public rental housing.
Jeju Tourism Organization plans to introduce an artificial intelligence-powered travel planning service. Jeju Energy (JEC) will develop a benefit-sharing model that expands direct investment by residents and participation by local companies in renewable energy projects.
Jeju Economic and Trade Promotion Agency will shift from a management system centered on the number of support cases to one focused on the actual performance of supported companies, including sales, exports and employment.
Jeju Credit Guarantee Foundation will use its data to identify early signs of management crises and strengthen a system for proactively supporting small business owners expected to face difficulties.
The institutions also discussed joint measures to use AI and digital technologies across their operations, improve work efficiency and connect those improvements to better services for residents.

In the safety sector, the institutions agreed to promote on-site inspections and safety reports tailored to the characteristics of their respective operations, including facilities, industry, tourism, medical care and caregiving. They also emphasized preventive safety management, which identifies and addresses risk factors in advance rather than focusing primarily on responding after an accident occurs.
Wi Seong-gon said, "The institutions must clearly define their founding purposes and inherent roles, concentrate their personnel and financial resources on core functions, and deliver the results that residents need."
He added, "Innovation must not remain merely a plan; it must lead to tangible changes in organizations, businesses and ways of working." He also urged them, saying, "Please operate the Responsible Innovation Meeting as a cooperative system in which the province and public institutions work together to solve problems and review results."
