20–60 mm of rain forecast for Jeju during Chuseok holiday... Caution urged for hiking and sea travel

【Financial News, Jeju—Jung Yong-bok】 Jeju is expected to receive 20–60 mm of rain through the evening of the 26th, the day after Chuseok. Sudden gusts, thunder, and lightning are forecast at sea, while waves in offshore waters could rise to as high as 3 m. Caution is advised for holiday hiking and maritime travel.
According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Office on the 26th, Jeju Province will remain cloudy, with rain continuing through the evening. Expected rainfall is 20–60 mm.
The daytime high is forecast at 28°C in Jeju and Seogwipo and 27°C in Seongsan and Gosan. This would be slightly lower than the 28.3–30.5°C recorded across Jeju Province on Chuseok, but still above the seasonal average of 24.7–26.4°C.
Temperatures will also be lower in the mountainous areas of Hallasan, along with the rain. The daytime high is expected to reach 25°C in Sancheondan and Hannam and 22°C in Seongpanak. Since trails, stairs, and wooden decks may become wet and slippery, hikers should take precautions.
Weather conditions will be more volatile at sea. Waves in the waters off Jeju are expected to reach 1.0–2.5 m, while waves in the inner offshore waters southwest of Jeju and the outer offshore waters to the south could rise to as high as 3 m. Strong winds are also expected, with sudden gusts, thunder, and lightning in some areas.

Those using maritime transportation, including passenger ferries and fishing boats, during the holiday should check operating information and the latest weather conditions before departure.
Rain will continue in some areas on the 27th. From the morning through late afternoon, 5–10 mm of rain is expected, mainly in areas south of Hallasan.
The likelihood of rain is relatively high in Seogwipo, Seongsan, Sancheondan, Hannam, and Seongpanak on the morning and afternoon of the 27th. Northern Jeju and Gosan are expected to remain mostly cloudy.
On the 28th, skies will be mostly cloudy across Jeju, while conditions are expected to gradually clear from the morning of the 29th. Daytime highs will remain around 26–27°C even after the holiday, staying above the seasonal average.
The Jeju Regional Meteorological Office urged hikers, holiday travelers, and maritime transportation users to take precautions against accidents and exercise caution regarding travel safety, as rain is expected to accompany high waves, sudden gusts, thunder, and lightning at sea.
