New York Stocks Rise Despite Treasury Yield Headwind; Semiconductor ETF SOXL Surges 3.5%

New York stocks closed higher on the 25th (local time), shrugging off the headwind from rising Treasury yields. They advanced as international oil prices fell and semiconductor stocks strengthened.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), which comprises 30 large-cap blue-chip stocks, closed at 51,828.62, up 478.64 points (0.93%) from the previous session.
The broad-market Standard & Poor's 500 Index (S&P 500) rose 39.28 points (0.51%) to 7,743.41, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq jumped 129.34 points (0.48%) to 27,068.72.
All three major indexes also gained for the week.
The DJIA rose 0.28%, a modest gain, while the tech-heavy S&P 500 and Nasdaq posted weekly gains of 1.21% and 2.06%, respectively.
The Nasdaq-100, comprising 100 major technology stocks, closed at 30,608.13, up 129.28 points (0.42%). TQQQ, a leveraged exchange-traded fund that tracks three times the index's daily moves, closed at $79.60, up $1.02 (1.30%).
Semiconductor stocks performed well.
NVIDIA, the sector leader, closed at $225.07, up $0.49 (0.22%), while Micron Technology ended at $1,082.28, up $1.75 (0.16%).
SK hynix's American depositary receipt (ADR) rose $5.19 (2.78%) to $181.56.
The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOX) closed at 12,668.93, up 176.39 points (1.41%). The leveraged ETF Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares (SOXL), which tracks three times the index's daily moves, closed at $151.47, up $5.14 (3.51%).
Big tech stocks showed mixed performance.
Alphabet closed at $343.92, up $1.48 (0.43%), while Apple ended at $341.07, up $5.15 (1.53%).
Palantir Technologies, meanwhile, fell $2.92 (1.52%) to $189.67, while Tesla declined $5.83 (1.64%) to $372.11.
