Korean Business Leaders Meet Mexico's President; SK to Expand Vaccine Initiatives and LG to Increase Automotive Electronics Investment

 [Financial News, Mexico City (Mexico) — Reporter Choi Jong-geun]Major Korean companies that attended a meeting with President Lee Jae Myung and local business leaders during his state visit to Mexico expressed their willingness to actively participate in 'Plan Mexico,' the Mexican government's initiative to strengthen industrial competitiveness. SK presented plans to participate in Mexico's national immunization program and transfer its vaccine quality-control capabilities, while LG outlined plans to invest in automotive electronics and autonomous driving and expand its local production bases.
A senior Blue House official told reporters at the Mexico City Press Center on the 24th (local time) about the discussions at the business leaders' meeting held that day, "The business leaders introduced the businesses their companies have been operating in Mexico and also talked about their future business plans."
The senior official said, "To give some examples, Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group, said that SK bioscience, as a biotechnology company, would participate in Mexico's national immunization program and cooperate in transferring vaccine quality-control capabilities," and explained, "LG also said it would expand investment in automotive electronics, the electronic systems used in automobiles, and autonomous driving. It also discussed plans to expand its network of production bases across the five states where it has operated to date."
Meanwhile, President Lee Jae Myung co-chaired a business leaders' meeting with Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum at the Mexican Presidential Palace that day. Around 30 people attended, including nine Korean business leaders such as Chey Tae-won, chairman of KCCI and SK Group, and senior government officials from both countries.
