South Korea lost 8-19 to Japan in the women's 3x3 basketball semifinal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on the 25th. The game was held at the venue in Kinjo-futo Station Square, Japan.
After going 3-0 in the group stage, South Korea defeated Taiwan 14-12 in the quarterfinals to reach the Asian Games semifinals for the first time. However, it could not get past Japan.
South Korea will face the loser of the Thailand-Philippines game at 6 p.m. for the bronze medal. Since 3x3 basketball became an official Asian Games event in 2018, the South Korean women's team has yet to win a medal. A victory in the bronze-medal game would secure its first-ever medal.
Japan scored two consecutive two-pointers early in the game, putting South Korea behind 0-4. South Korea fought back with baskets from Song Yun-ha and Kim Jeong-eun, but Japan scored eight straight points after the score reached 4-5, widening the gap.
The two-point shots that had helped South Korea in its previous game failed to deliver this time. South Korea attempted 14 two-pointers but made only one, finishing with a 7% success rate. Kim Jeong-eun of Busan BNK scored five points and grabbed seven rebounds, but could not prevent the defeat.
