Choo Ga-eun and Hong Su-hyeon Win Silver in 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Event [Nagoya AG]

The Choo Ga-eun-Hong Su-hyeon team fired a combined 478.0 points over 48 shots in the final held at the Aichi Prefecture General Shooting Range in Japan on the 25th, finishing second behind India.
India won the title with 484.6 points, improving the previous Asian record of 481.3 by 3.3 points. Iran took the bronze medal with 415.8 points, while Indonesia finished fourth with 349.4.
Korea opened in second place after scoring 98.1 points in the first 10 shots, trailing India by 4.9 points as India recorded 103.0. After the third series, India remained in the lead with 303.5 points, followed by Korea with 300.2.
Indonesia was eliminated first in the second stage, which was conducted with one shot at a time. Korea then engaged in a close battle with Iran for the silver medal.
On the 19th shot for each athlete, Choo Ga-eun scored 10.3, but Hong Su-hyeon managed only 8.4, prompting Korea to call a timeout. After the 20th shot, Korea's lead over Iran had narrowed to 1.3 points.
Korea overcame the crucial moment on the 21st shot, when Choo Ga-eun scored 10.4 and Hong Su-hyeon recorded 9.4. With a combined 416.5 points after 42 shots, Korea edged Iran by 0.7 points to secure the silver medal.
In the final six shots, with the gold medal at stake, both athletes scored 10.5 and mounted a pursuit that even forced India to call a timeout. However, they could only reduce the gap with India from 8.4 points to 6.6.
Korea has now finished on the podium in this event at three consecutive Games, following the silver medal won by Lee Dae-myung and Kim Min-jung at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games and the bronze medal won by Lee Won-ho and Kim Bo-mi at the 2022 Asian Games. This was Korea's first silver medal in the event in eight years, since 2018.
Choo Ga-eun competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics but failed to make the team at the 2022 Asian Games selection trials. She later earned a spot at these Games and made her Asian Games debut, collecting gold in the women's 10m air pistol individual event, silver in the team event, and another silver in the mixed team event.
Hong Su-hyeon, who missed out on a medal after finishing fourth in the men's 10m air pistol individual event the previous day, won the first Asian Games medal of her career.
