Choo Ga-eun and Hong Soo-hyun Advance to Mixed Air Pistol Final [Nagoya AG]

[Financial News] Choo Ga-eun of Imsil County Office and Hong Soo-hyun of Gangwon State Government advanced to the final of the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The Choo Ga-eun–Hong Soo-hyun pair scored 582 points, including 23 inner tens, in the qualification round held at the Aichi Prefectural General Shooting Gallery in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on the 25th. They finished third among 21 teams, with Choo Ga-eun contributing 294 points and nine inner tens and Hong Soo-hyun adding 288 points and 14 inner tens.
India advanced to the final in first place with 587 points, setting an Asian tie record and a new Asian Games qualification record. Iran finished second with 584 points, while Indonesia took fourth with 580 points to join the final.
North Korea's Kim Hyun-suk–Kim Song-guk pair finished fifth with 578 points and was eliminated. China, which had won nine gold, three silver and two bronze medals in shooting at the Games through the previous day, also failed to reach the final after placing seventh with 577 points.
Starting this year, the format of the air pistol mixed team event has changed, with the top four teams in the qualification round competing simultaneously in the final.
In the final, each athlete fires 15 shots, giving each team a total of 30 shots, before single-shot firing begins. The fourth-place team is eliminated after the teams reach 36 shots in total, followed by the third-place team at 42 shots. The remaining two teams fire through 48 shots, with their scores determining the gold and silver medalists.
Choo Ga-eun, who has won gold in the women's 10m air pistol individual event and silver in the team event, is aiming for her second gold medal at these Games. Hong Soo-hyun, who finished fourth in the men's individual event the previous day, is seeking a first Asian Games medal. The final will be held at noon at the same venue.
