Korea lost to Thailand 0-2 in the women's team regu final at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games held at the Mizuho Park Gymnasium in Nagoya, Japan on the 25th.
Following the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Games and the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, they won a silver medal again. Thailand has achieved five consecutive victories since the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.
Team Regu is a team competition in which a team forms three Regu groups of three to compete. Four teams, including Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japan, participated in this tournament.
Korea finished second in the preliminary round with two wins and one loss, then defeated third-place Indonesia 2-0 in the semifinals. Having lost 0-3 to Thailand in the third preliminary match, Korea was unable to close the gap in strength in the final as well.
In the first set, striker Han Ye-ji and feeder Lee Min-ju (both from Busan Environmental Corporation), who plays a role similar to a volleyball setter, and te-gong player Choi Ji-na (Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Government), who mainly serves, took the field. Korea lost with a set score of 0-2 (13-15 5-15).
In the first set, they tied the score by winning three consecutive points from a 7-10 deficit. At 11-11, they took the lead as a Thai attack hit the net. However, after Han Ye-ji's attack hit the net at 13-12, they failed to block the opponent's attacks and serves, ultimately losing the set.
They fell behind 0-4 from the start of the second set. At 2-5, Lee Min-ju was hit in the neck by the ball while blocking and collapsed, briefly losing consciousness.
In the second regu, featuring striker Kim Sei-young (Chungnam Sports Association), feeder Bae Han-ul and te-gong player Wi Ji-seon (both Incheon Sports Association), they also lost with a set score of 0-2 (7-15 6-15).
Korea maintained a close one-point difference early in the second set, but the gap widened after conceding consecutive points from 4-5. At 5-7, compounded by service errors, they conceded three consecutive points and lost the momentum to catch up.
