Sports Toto Baseball Sales Hit Record High of KRW 1.5401 Trillion Last Year

[Financial News] Sports Toto sales for baseball surpassed KRW 1.5 trillion last year, reaching an all-time high. Sales for the KBO League increased by 36.5% over the past three years.
An analysis of data from the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO) by the office of Jin Sun-mee of the Democratic Party of Korea, a member of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee of the National Assembly, found that Sports Toto baseball sales totaled KRW 1.5401 trillion last year.
Baseball sales rose every year, from approximately KRW 1.2106 trillion in 2022 to approximately KRW 1.3152 trillion in 2023, KRW 1.3909 trillion in 2024, and KRW 1.5401 trillion in 2025.
Sales for KBO League games increased at an even faster pace. Combined sales for the regular season and postseason totaled approximately KRW 480.6 billion in 2022, KRW 510.8 billion in 2023, KRW 552.4 billion in 2024, and KRW 656 billion in 2025.
That represented an increase of approximately KRW 175.4 billion over the three years from 2022, or a growth rate of 36.5%.
Rep. Jin said, "As professional baseball grows in popularity, baseball's share of Sports Toto and its sales have also increased significantly. Ahead of the postseason, relevant agencies need to step up oversight so that the culture of enjoying sports does not become distorted by excessive betting."
