U.S.-China Summit Concludes; Trump: "It Was a Very Good Meeting"

[Financial News] The closely watched summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping concluded at the White House on the 24th local time.
According to White House pool reporters, Xi Jinping left the White House at 1:29 p.m. Eastern Time. He had arrived at 10:07 a.m. and stayed for a total of 3 hours and 22 minutes.
President Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, warmly welcomed Xi Jinping and Peng Liyuan when the car carrying them arrived at the White House's south entrance.
The two leaders each delivered remarks in the White House's central lobby, the Grand Foyer, before exchanging gifts. They then attended an official welcoming ceremony on the balcony.
Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, the summit was held in the Oval Office, President Trump's office.
The talks were divided into a restricted meeting and an expanded meeting. Except for allowing photographers to take pictures at the beginning, all of the talks were held behind closed doors.
The White House has not yet released specific details about the outcome of the talks.
After the talks, the two leaders took a walk on the South Lawn, the White House's southern grounds, and toured a recently completed helipad.
President Trump also escorted Xi Jinping inside Marine One, the U.S. president's official helicopter, which was parked there. Later, speaking to reporters, Trump said, "We had a very good meeting."
Reporters asked whether the two leaders had discussed Taiwan, artificial intelligence (AI), and Jimmy Lai, an imprisoned anti-China journalist. However, neither Trump nor Xi Jinping responded, White House pool reporters said.
Xi Jinping got into a car and left the White House after concluding his schedule. Trump reiterated to reporters, "It was a very good meeting."
The two leaders will attend a state dinner at the White House this evening in honor of Xi Jinping.
On the 25th, Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) with Trump before departing the United States after concluding his state visit.
