[Financial News] U.S. stocks ended mixed on the 24th (local time) amid a sharp rise in Treasury yields and concerns about further interest rate hikes.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) closed at 51,349.98, down 161.61 points (0.31%) from the previous session.
The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (S&P 500 Index) fell 1.90 points (0.02%) from the previous session to 7,704.13. Meanwhile, the technology-heavy NASDAQ Composite Index gained 3.34 points (0.01%) to finish at 26,939.37.
The U.S. 30-year Treasury yield surged to its highest level since June 2004. The sharp rise in Treasury yields also heightened concerns that the Federal Reserve System (Fed) could raise interest rates further.
However, reports of phased U.S.-Iran talks to end the war, including the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, eased some of the downward pressure on stocks.
