[Financial News] South Korea's fencing team failed to add any medals in women's sabre and men's épée on the final day of the individual events at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Jeon Ha-young of Seoul Metropolitan Government was eliminated in the individual-event quarterfinals after losing 11-15 to Lao Xueyi of China on the 24th at Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.
Currently ranked 11th in the world—the highest among Asian athletes—and once ranked No. 1, Jeon Ha-young had been considered a medal contender in the individual event at these Games.
Kim Jeong-mi of Ansan City Hall failed to reach the quarterfinals after suffering a 5-15 defeat to Summer Faye Sit of Hong Kong in the round of 16.
In the men's individual épée event, Jang Hyomin of Ulsan Metropolitan City Hall reached the quarterfinals but missed out on a place in the semifinals after losing 12-13 to Hoi Sun Fong of Hong Kong in a closely contested overtime bout.
Park Sang-young of Ulsan Metropolitan City Hall, the men's individual épée gold medalist at the 2016 Summer Olympics, lost 13-15 to Zhang Xinkun of China in the round of 16.
South Korea concluded its individual events in fencing, which began on the 22nd, with two gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal.
