Ruling and opposition parties clash over 'rejection of re-nomination for Supreme Court Justice' even during the Chuseok holiday

[Financial News] On the 24th, the first day of the Chuseok holiday, the ruling and opposition parties continued their heated exchange over Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae's refusal to re-recommend. The Democratic Party of Korea pressed the political forces behind Chief Justice Cho. In contrast, the People Power Party launched an offensive, demanding that the pressure on Chief Justice Cho cease.
In a written briefing, Democratic Party of Korea Senior Spokesperson Park Seong-jun criticized Chief Justice Cho’s refusal to re-recommend the nomination, calling it "an unprecedented abuse of power in which the Chief Justice obstructs the appointment authority granted to the President by the Constitution and the people," and describing it as "a clear violation of the Constitution and blatant self-serving politics."
They continued by demanding, "Chief Justice Cho must answer what the Chief Justice and Justices, who should have declared a violation of the Constitution on the night of the December 3 Martial Law, did at the emergency meeting, who is behind Chief Justice Cho's blatant political actions, and with which political forces or groups he is conspiring."
On the other hand, People Power Party floor leader Chung Jeom-sik claimed on Facebook that day, "The review of forming a 'special investigation headquarters for the insurrection case' is a public threat against Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho."
Representative Chung’s claim points out that the ‘Special Investigation Headquarters for Insurrection Cases,’ which the government is reviewing to hold those involved in the December 3 Martial Law accountable, is targeting Chief Justice Cho.
Floor Leader Chung further criticized, saying, "The 'insurrection' chanted by the Democratic Party of Korea is merely a political stigma to be pinned on anyone who does not please them," and added, "It is exactly the same as the 'reactionary' shouted by the North Korean regime when it carries out political repression."
