Yoo Hae-jin Outdoes Himself... 'Assassin(s)' Surpasses 'The King's Warden' Opening, Takes Chuseok No. 1 Spot

[Financial News] Director Hur Jin-ho's film 'Assassin(s)' drew more than 130,000 moviegoers on its opening day to top the box office.
According to figures compiled by the integrated theater ticketing network on the 24th, 'Assassin(s)' attracted 134,464 moviegoers the previous day, the 23rd. That surpassed the opening-day audiences for 'The King's Warden' (117,792) and 'Humint' (116,741), which were released ahead of the last Lunar New Year holiday.
Starring Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il and Minho, 'Assassin(s)' follows an investigation into the suspicions surrounding and the forces behind the shooting incident targeting the first lady on August 15, 1974.
In the real-time advance-booking rankings that day, 'Assassin(s)' took first place with a 31.6% booking rate and 269,646 advance-booking viewers.
'Odyssey,' which has been enjoying a long theatrical run, followed with 18.3% (155,986 viewers), while 'Tazza: The Song of Beelzebub' ranked third with 12.5% (106,854 viewers).
'Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island,' which opens on the 30th, ranked fourth with 10.5%. It was followed by 'The Intern' (7.5%), 'Possible Love' (4.2%), 'Reawakened Man: The Red' (4.0%), 'Avengers: Endgame Encore' (4.0%), and 'Obsession' (1.4%), in that order. 'Resident Evil: The Zeroth Night' ranked 10th.
