Jeju daytime temperatures to reach 28°C; 20–60 mm of rain expected this weekend

【Financial News Jeju—Jeong Yong-bok, reporter】 Daytime temperatures in Jeju Province are expected to rise to 27–28°C on the 24th, with a wide gap between daytime and nighttime temperatures. On Saturday the 26th, 20–60 mm of rain is forecast from early morning through the evening.
According to the Jeju Regional Meteorological Office on the 24th, Jeju Province will be occasionally cloudy that day. Highs are expected to reach 27°C in Jeju City, 28°C in Seogwipo, 27°C in Seongsan, and 27°C in Gosan.
The forecast highs of 27–28°C are above the average highs for this time of year, which range from 24.9°C to 26.3°C. The previous day, the 23rd, highs across Jeju Province ranged from 26.6°C to 29.0°C.
Morning temperatures will fall to around 20°C in some areas, resulting in a wide gap between daytime and nighttime temperatures. The Jeju Regional Meteorological Office forecast that the large daily temperature range would continue through that day.
On the 25th, Chuseok Day, skies will be mostly cloudy before becoming increasingly overcast in the afternoon. Morning lows are expected to range from 21°C to 22°C, while daytime highs will reach 27–28°C.
The weather will change significantly over the weekend. On Saturday the 26th, Jeju Island will remain cloudy, with rain expected from the early morning hours, between midnight and 3 a.m., through the evening, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Rainfall across Jeju Island is expected to total 20–60 mm.
The probability of precipitation in most areas will rise to around 70% on Saturday morning. At Seongpanak, the morning probability of precipitation is forecast at 80%.
Cloudy conditions will continue on Sunday the 27th. In particular, occasional rain is expected in areas south of Hallasan from between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. through between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Rain may continue Sunday in southern and eastern parts of Jeju Province, including Seogwipo and Seongsan.
Marine conditions will also deteriorate as the weekend approaches. Waves in the waters off Jeju Island are expected to remain relatively low at 0.5–1.5 m that day, but could rise to 0.5–2.5 m on Saturday. Waves could also reach up to 2.5 m Saturday afternoon in the inner offshore waters southwest and southeast of Jeju Island and in the outer offshore waters to the south.
South to southwesterly winds of 8–13 m/s are also expected in the waters off Jeju Island Saturday afternoon. Vessels and anglers using the sea over the weekend should check the latest marine forecast.
The rain forecast should also be taken into account when planning outdoor activities this weekend. Rain is expected across Jeju Island on Saturday, while precipitation may continue south of Hallasan on Sunday, so hikers and organizers of outdoor events should check the latest weather information.
