Cargo Ship Hit by Unidentified Projectile in Strait of Hormuz... Two Casualties Reported

[Financial News] A cargo ship was hit by an unidentified projectile in the Strait of Hormuz, causing a fire and leaving the vessel adrift.
According to The Associated Press (AP) and other foreign media outlets on the 23rd (local time), a security officer aboard a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz reported to United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) that the vessel had been struck by an unidentified projectile. A fire broke out on the ship immediately after the incident, and it was reportedly drifting after losing control.
All crew members evacuated the vessel, but two casualties were reported during the process. The specific conditions of the casualties remain unknown. Relevant authorities are currently investigating the incident, and no environmental damage, including marine pollution, has been reported.
UKMTO urged vessels traveling through nearby waters to exercise extreme caution and recommended that they immediately report any suspicious activity to the organization.
Meanwhile, the United States and Iran scrapped the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on ending the war that they had agreed to through Pakistan's mediation and have resumed exchanging fire around the Strait of Hormuz since early July. United States President Donald Trump has again claimed that the United States effectively controls the Strait of Hormuz, but Iran continues to attack merchant vessels that do not follow routes designated by Iran within the strait.
