Acting Police Chief Kim Jong-cheol Inspects Public Safety Measures Ahead of Chuseok

[Financial News] Kim Jong-cheol, acting commissioner general of the Korean National Police Agency, visited frontline police substations and traditional markets ahead of the Chuseok holiday to inspect public-safety measures for the holiday period.
According to the Korean National Police Agency on the 23rd, Acting Commissioner General Kim visited the central police substation of Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station that day to encourage frontline officers and review public-safety measures, including joint patrols of Yeongdeungpo Market.
The visit was aimed at assessing the on-site implementation of the comprehensive security measures for the Chuseok holiday, which the police have been pursuing since the 17th. The police are implementing the comprehensive measures for 11 days through the 27th to maintain public stability and enhance the public's sense of safety.
In particular, taking into account single-person households that do not return to their hometowns during the holiday, the police are strengthening patrols and preventive inspections in areas with large concentrations of women and other single-person households, as well as in crime-prone areas. They are also stepping up safety management and patrols at places expected to draw large crowds during the holiday, including traditional markets, large supermarkets, train stations, and bus terminals.
To prevent harm from domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and other relationship-based crimes, the police will identify in advance households at risk of recurrence and people subject to crime monitoring. Police officers will also be deployed to congested areas, including routes to and from hometowns and traditional markets, to manage traffic.
Acting Commissioner General Kim emphasized, "We are implementing comprehensive measures to enhance perceived safety during the Chuseok holiday so that the public can spend a safe and peaceful holiday."
Since taking office, Acting Commissioner General Kim has continued to visit frontline sites to inspect key public-safety issues. On the 10th, he visited Seoul Dongdaemun Police Station to review preparations at investigative sites ahead of the enforcement of the revised Criminal Procedure Act and hear officers' opinions.
