[Financial News] Kim Young-chan, 26, a member of South Korea's national e-sports team, won bronze in Gran Turismo 7 at the 2026 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya, securing the national team's first medal. Kim Young-chan finished third with 25 points in the Gran Turismo 7 e-sports final held on the 23rd at Aichi Sky Expo in Japan.
The competition did not get off to a smooth start. Kim Young-chan led the early stages of Race 1 and moved into the front group, but fell back after the midpoint and finished sixth, earning only three points.
He quickly regained his focus, however. In the subsequent Race 2, he mounted a determined charge and crossed the finish line first, adding 10 points and setting the stage for a turnaround.
In the final Race 3, he started second behind Madira of Malaysia and slipped to third, but held his position to complete his total of 25 points.
Kim Young-chan was tied with Alfale of Saudi Arabia but finished behind Alfale based on the Race 3 result, ending the competition in third place. Madira won the gold medal.
