[Financial News] The Korea Forest Welfare Institute is recruiting scholarship recipients to nurture talent who will lead the future of the forestry and forest-related sectors and to improve the academic conditions of workers in related fields.
 The Korea Forest Welfare Institute announced on the 23rd that it will recruit 210 recipients for the 2026 Green Scholarship Program from October 1 to 23. The program is open to students majoring in or working in forestry and forest-related fields, as well as job seekers.
 The Green Scholarship Program uses the Lottery Fund (Green Fund) to provide students interested in forestry and forest-related fields, along with workers in those sectors, with stable academic conditions and to promote employment and entrepreneurship in related fields.
 This year's recruitment will be divided into two categories according to the applicants' eligibility and the purpose of the support: academic scholarships for enrolled high school and university students, and employment scholarships for job seekers and those pursuing employment or entrepreneurship. Final recipients will receive up to 3 million won in academic scholarships and up to 1.5 million won in employment scholarships.

 Meanwhile, since 2016, the institute has provided scholarships through the Green Scholarship Program to a total of 2,636 young people and workers in the forestry and forest-related sectors, including 1,597 academic scholarship recipients and 1,039 employment scholarship recipients.
 Meanwhile, as the role of forests in responding to the climate crisis and achieving carbon neutrality has gained greater attention, the forestry and forest-related sectors are rapidly expanding beyond a simple primary industry into high-value future industries such as forest healing, forest sports, timber construction and smart forest management. However, securing young talent with specialized skills has emerged as a challenge as the forestry workforce continues to age and the influx of young workers stagnates. The Green Scholarship Program is expected to serve as a catalyst for lowering barriers to entry into the forestry sector for young people and cultivating professionals tailored to the needs of the field.
