Baek Jin Kyung, who has more experience as a married woman, asked Park Eun-young, who married her doctor partner last May, how she felt about the holiday: "You haven't been married very long, have you? Isn't this your first holiday since getting married?"
Park Eun-young replied, "This is my first holiday. Aren't you a British daughter-in-law? Give me some advice as a British daughter-in-law."
Baek Jin Kyung then asked, "Are they expecting a lot from you at your in-laws' home?" Park Eun-young answered, "Since I'm a chef, I think the elders are secretly expecting me to cook."
When Baek Jin Kyung asked whether she had a menu that would impress the elders, Park Eun-young said, "Actually, I'm going to Tokyo this Chuseok. I'm an MZ-generation daughter-in-law. When I said a business trip had been scheduled, my mother-in-law told me to have a good trip." Meanwhile, with many travelers like Park Eun-young expected to head overseas during this Chuseok holiday, Incheon International Airport Corporation estimated that 1.14 million people would use Incheon International Airport from the 23rd, when the holiday began, through the 27th, averaging 228,000 passengers per day.
Outbound travelers are expected to peak at 131,999 on the 24th, while inbound travelers are projected to reach their highest level at 139,695 on the 27th. The total number of passengers, combining departures and arrivals, is also expected to be highest on the final day of the holiday, the 27th, when 247,018 people are forecast to use Incheon International Airport. That is a 7.9% increase from last year's Chuseok holiday daily record of 228,846 passengers.
In response, Incheon International Airport Corporation decided to implement special transportation measures. It will increase the number of airlines offering self check-in and self bag drop, while operating security screening personnel and equipment at maximum capacity. In consultation with the Ministry of Justice, major departure halls will open 30 minutes earlier than usual. The corporation also plans to manage crowds using passenger forecast information that predicts congestion by departure hall and time slot.
Real-time departure hall wait-time information will now also cover Terminal 2, expanding from the existing coverage of Terminal 1. The information can also be checked on major portal sites. To prepare for parking shortages, the corporation will use the Second Joint Government Complex near Terminal 2's short-term parking lot and a temporary parking lot to secure an additional 1,767 parking spaces.
