[Financial News] BNK Kyongnam Bank said on the 23rd that it signed the 'MOU for the Development of a Regional Hub for Physical Artificial Intelligence (AI)' on the 22nd at the headquarters of Korea Development Bank (KDB) in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. The agreement was joined by regional financial institutions BNK Kyongnam Bank, Jeonbuk Bank, and iM Bank; policy financial institutions Korea Development Bank, Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK), and Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT); and local governments South Gyeongsang Province, Jeonbuk State, and North Gyeongsang Province.
The MOU was established to develop regional hubs for physical AI, one of the three mega-projects being pursued by the government to drive a major leap forward for Korea. The participating institutions agreed to work together to foster local physical AI industrial ecosystems, support the growth of related companies, and contribute to revitalizing regional economies.
Regional financial institutions, including BNK Kyongnam Bank, will leverage networks built with local companies to identify physical AI-related businesses and financing needs. They will also pursue financial support in coordination with policy financial institutions and others.
Policy financial institutions, including KDB, will identify financing needs among physical AI-related companies and projects and provide the necessary funding through relevant policy finance programs.
Local governments, including South Gyeongsang Province, will identify related companies and projects to build local physical AI industrial ecosystems. They will also pursue efforts to attract companies, develop industrial infrastructure, and provide administrative support.
