Busan Education Office and Busan City Government Hold Nationwide First Teaching Case Competition for Childcare Centers

[Financial News] The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education announced on the 24th that it will hold the 2026 Teaching Case Competition for Childcare Centers in cooperation with the Busan Metropolitan City Government. The competition aims to enhance childcare teachers' teaching expertise and identify and promote outstanding education and childcare practices from the field. 
This is the first competition of its kind nationwide to be jointly organized by an education office and a local government for childcare teachers. The Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education and the Busan Metropolitan City Government will work together throughout the entire process, from planning the competition to judging and presenting the awards.
The competition is open to childcare teachers at centers in Busan that operate the Nuri Curriculum for children ages 3 to 5. It will have two categories: the general category, featuring teaching cases centered on child-led play, and the local-community category, featuring teaching cases that expand children's play and learning through connections with the local community.
The general category will identify cases that begin with children's interests and curiosity, show how play develops and expands through voluntary participation and choice, and capture appropriate support from teachers. The local-community category will identify diverse practices that use community institutions, natural environments and human resources to expand children's play and learning while fostering an understanding of the community and a sense of belonging.
Each entry will consist of one teaching-case video and one report. After evaluation, a total of 12 entries will be selected: one grand prize, two excellence awards and three merit awards in each category. The winning entries in the child-led play category will receive awards from the Superintendent of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education, while those in the local-community category will receive Mayor of Busan's Awards.
Entries will be accepted from November 16 through November 27. The entries and required documents must be submitted to the Early Childhood Education Division of the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education through an official letter. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in December.
Superintendent Kim Seok-jun said, "This competition is a cooperative initiative through which the education office and the city will work together to enhance childcare teachers' teaching expertise and share outstanding education and childcare practices." He added, "We will strengthen cooperation with local governments so that education and childcare can grow together in the field of integrating early childhood education and childcare, and we will actively support efforts to improve the expertise of childcare teachers."
