Gangnam Police Launches Back-to-School Safety Campaign, Provides 1,300 Clear Umbrellas

[Financial News] Seoul Gangnam Police Station launched a back-to-school safety campaign on children's routes to school to prevent traffic accidents as the autumn school term began.
Seoul Gangnam Police Station said on the 23rd that it had conducted a "joint clear umbrella campaign" for children's traffic safety at the front and rear gates of Samneung Elementary School in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, together with Hyundai Mobis, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, the Korea Road Traffic Authority (KoROAD), Gangnam District Office, the Seoul Gangnam Seocho District Office of Education, the Association of Exemplary Drivers and school officials.
During the campaign, 1,300 clear umbrellas for children, supplied by Hyundai Mobis, were distributed to students arriving at school. 
Made from eco-friendly vinyl, the clear umbrellas help children maintain visibility in the rain. Reflective material attached to the umbrellas also helps drivers easily identify children who are walking.
Police also provided lower-grade students with theoretical and hands-on lessons about the dangers of vehicle blind spots. Through practical activities, the students learned the three principles of pedestrian safety for crossing a crosswalk: "Stop, Look and Walk."
Police also carried out traffic management targeting vehicles traveling through school zones. They are enforcing traffic law violations committed within school zones as well.
Ju Seung-eun, chief of Seoul Gangnam Police Station, said, "We will continue working closely with Hyundai Mobis and other related agencies to do our utmost to ensure the traffic safety of children in the local community."
