[Financial News] As gold prices are expected to rise over the long term, digital gold trading services that allow users to trade gold regardless of time or location—even during holidays such as the Chuseok holiday—are drawing attention.
According to Bdan, operated by Busan Digital Asset Exchange, on the 23rd, global investment bank Goldman Sachs maintained its positive outlook on gold prices despite the possibility of additional interest rate hikes by the U.S. Federal Reserve System (Fed). Goldman Sachs kept its target gold price at $5,400 per ounce by the end of 2027, forecasting that rate hikes would merely slow the pace of gold's rise rather than halt the upward trend.
Goldman Sachs cited continued gold purchases by central banks as a key basis for its outlook on rising gold prices. Central banks' average monthly gold purchases have increased sharply from about 17 tonnes before 2022 to approximately 91 tonnes recently. Goldman Sachs expects this central bank demand to support a significant portion of the anticipated rise in gold prices through the end of 2027.
Concerns over declining currency values due to expanding government debt, uncertainty surrounding monetary policy and geopolitical risks are also cited as factors supporting demand for gold.
As the possibility of a long-term rise in gold prices emerges, interest is growing in services that allow users to trade gold conveniently and consistently.
Bdan offers digital trading and physical redemption for a range of physical asset-backed products, including gold, silver, platinum, palladium, copper, nickel, tin and coffee.
Bdan's gold product, e-gold, can be traded in increments as small as 0.01 grams, allowing users to start trading gold with a small amount compared with purchases from jewelry stores or purchases of physical gold. Trading is not limited to regular financial market hours; users can trade the products via mobile devices 365 days a year, including during holiday periods such as Chuseok.
Gold, silver, platinum and palladium can also be accumulated automatically through the subscription-based Chagok Chagok service, which allows users to freely set the amount, duration and payment frequency, much like a bank savings plan. Users who meet the required number of payments and subscription period are eligible for a waiver of selling fees.
A Bdan official said, "Long-term demand for gold has continued in global markets recently, and the trend of expanding gold holdings, led by central banks, is also continuing." The official added, "We expect digital gold trading to establish itself as a new trend through Bdan, which allows users to trade gold without restrictions on time or location and exchange it for physical gold."
