World Vision Provides Chuseok Special Meals to 490 Children Facing Food Insecurity

[Financial News] A total of 490 children facing food insecurity will receive holiday food or vouchers to cover meal-preparation costs ahead of Chuseok.
According to international relief and development NGO World Vision on the 23rd, special Chuseok meals will be provided from the 21st through the 25th at five Sarangui Dosirak sites nationwide, including in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metropolitan City and Daejeon.
Depending on local conditions, each site will provide a special-meal kit containing holiday food, fruit, meat and meal kits, or vouchers to cover meal-preparation costs. The vouchers were designed to allow children to choose ingredients and cook with their guardians.
World Vision explained that some children may have difficulty obtaining meals if establishments accepting child meal cards close during the holiday. The initiative is intended to help prepare holiday meals in addition to providing the dinner lunchboxes normally supplied.
World Vision has provided special holiday meals every year since 2000. Kim Soon-yi, head of World Vision’s domestic programs, said, "The starting point of this initiative is to ensure that our children alone are not left out."
