KARI, Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology Sign MOU on Joint Operation of National Comprehensive Flight Performance Test Center

[Financial News] KARI and the Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology announced on the 23rd that they had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the joint operation of the National Comprehensive Flight Performance Test Center to ensure its safe and systematic operation on the 22nd.
The National Comprehensive Flight Performance Test Center is the only civilian aircraft flight test center in South Korea with the country's longest runway. KARI has built and operated major testing infrastructure, including the runway and test buildings, while supporting flight tests for manned and unmanned aircraft developed by domestic industry, academia and research institutions, as well as performance verification for aircraft components.
Through the agreement, the two institutions clarified their respective roles and cooperation procedures for the joint operation and maintenance of flight test center facilities; the establishment of safety, security and emergency response systems; joint responses to inspections by relevant agencies; and the consultation and coordination of affairs through a joint operation committee.
Building on this agreement, they plan to link KARI's research and development and testing infrastructure with the Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology's expertise in flight test safety management. The goal is to improve the safety and efficiency of flight testing and actively support the development and demonstration of future aircraft.
KARI President Lee Sang-cheol said, "The National Comprehensive Flight Performance Test Center is a critical national infrastructure facility that verifies the performance of aircraft and core technologies developed in South Korea through actual flight." He added, "By combining KARI's accumulated research and development and flight testing capabilities with the institute's expertise in safety management, we will support the development of future aircraft and continue to enhance the technological competitiveness of South Korea's aviation industry."
Hwang Ho-won, president of the Korea Institute of Aviation Safety Technology, stated, "As South Korea's only civilian aircraft flight test center, the National Comprehensive Flight Performance Test Center is a key national infrastructure facility that supports aviation technology development and safety verification." He added, "By working closely with KARI, we will further strengthen flight testing capabilities and create a testing environment that domestic aviation companies and research institutions can trust."
