"This Time Throwing Punches and Kicking in Hongdae": German TikToker at Center of Subway Controversy Causes Another Stir

[Financial News]  A German influencer who had been criticized for dancing to music played through a large speaker on the Seoul subway sparked another controversy after appearing to throw punches and kicks at passersby on a street in Hongdae.
On the 20th, Streichbruder posted a video filmed on a street in Seoul's Hongdae district on social media.
In the video, he set up a large speaker in the middle of a Hongdae street and danced to music.
While continuing to dance, Streichbruder took off his shirt, swung his body dramatically and shadowboxed into the air. He repeatedly made movements that could appear threatening toward nearby pedestrians, prompting some citizens to recoil in surprise or move away.
Hongdae was crowded with citizens at the time. Nevertheless, Streichbruder continued making vigorous movements on a walkway used by pedestrians.
Streichbruder has about 3.3 million followers on TikTok and 1.25 million on Instagram. He has mainly posted videos of himself visiting subways, streets and plazas in various countries, playing music through a large speaker and dancing or doing backflips.
Similar behavior had already caused controversy on the Seoul subway before the Hongdae video. On the 5th, he posted six videos filmed on the subway in succession.
The videos showed him playing music through a large speaker, DJing and dancing inside trains packed with passengers. When the train arrived at a station, he carried the speaker onto the platform, danced and even did backflips.
The filming locations included Samgakji Station, Noksapyeong Station, Hyochang Park Station and Sinchon Station. Some videos also showed passengers trying to get off having difficulty moving because Streichbruder blocked the passageway.
Similar filming continued overseas. At Park Güell in Barcelona, Streichbruder continued filming even after security guards tried to stop him, drawing criticism after he posted the video on social media.
