[Financial News] VIRNECT said on the 23rd that it attended the 'Policy Meeting for Revitalizing the Physical Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ecosystem in Gyeonggi' held at the R&DB Center of the Gyeonggi-do Economic and Science Promotion Agency (GBSA). The company shared its experience supporting artificial intelligence transformation (AX) at manufacturing sites and discussed ways to expand the adoption of physical AI.
The meeting was attended by the Future Science Cooperation Committee of the Gyeonggido Assembly, as well as representatives from local governments including Gyeonggi Province and Siheung-si, manufacturing companies, AI and robotics companies, universities, research institutes and related associations. Participants identified on-site challenges hindering manufacturers from adopting physical AI, including the burden of initial investment costs, difficulties in verifying return on investment (ROI), and a shortage of skilled personnel. They also discussed demonstration support and ways for companies to cooperate.
VIRNECT is the lead company of the VIRNECT consortium, the private-sector contractor for Gyeonggi Province's 'Physical AI Diffusion Center Establishment and Operation Project.' Using the Physical AI Diffusion Centers in Seongnam and Siheung-si as bases, it provides manufacturing companies with AI consulting, on-site demonstrations and training. The company supports them from identifying technology needs through actual process implementation.
At the meeting, VIRNECT presented directions for the support needed by manufacturing companies based on its consulting and demonstration experience accumulated while operating the diffusion centers. It particularly emphasized that expanding the adoption of physical AI requires securing use cases for individual sites and creating an environment where the technology's effectiveness can be validated in actual processes through small-scale proof-of-concept (PoC) projects.
It also highlighted the need for a support system that connects companies with demand and solution providers. The company explained that on-site diagnostics for businesses should be linked to demonstration support, and that cooperation networks among AI, robotics and manufacturing companies should be strengthened so that on-site technology needs lead to process implementation and commercialization.
Ha Tae-jin, CEO of VIRNECT, said, "For physical AI to spread across industrial sites, it is important not only to develop the technology but also to apply it to the processes of actual manufacturing companies and verify its effectiveness." He added, "VIRNECT will identify manufacturers' on-site needs and support demonstrations and implementation through the Physical AI Diffusion Center project, thereby contributing to the spread of physical AI across industrial sites."
Meanwhile, VIRNECT is a physical AI company specializing in supporting artificial intelligence transformation in industrial settings based on AI and spatial computing technologies. In addition to establishing and operating the Gyeonggi Physical AI Diffusion Centers, it is pursuing the demonstration and application of physical AI technologies across various industries, including manufacturing, defense and infrastructure.
