[Financial News] A US-led semiconductor tailwind is lifting domestic semiconductor materials, components and equipment stocks early in the trading session.
According to the Korea Exchange (KRX) on the 23rd, semiconductor equipment maker WONIK IPS was trading at 136,300 won on the KOSDAQ as of 9:50 a.m., up 6,100 won (4.60%) from the previous day's close. ZEUS (14.53%), TES (4.91%) and Techwing (2.63%) were also trending higher.
With the semiconductor sector showing strength overnight in the New York stock market, buying interest appears to be flowing into semiconductor stocks overall, including Samsung Electronics (+2.53%) and SK hynix (+1.03%).
Industry officials believe investor sentiment has spread on expectations that the success of Meta Platforms' new artificial intelligence (AI) agent, 'Muse,' will lead to increased demand for chips used for AI inference.
