[Financial News] Shinhan Financial Group has launched a mutual-support initiative to promote consumption at traditional markets and assist vulnerable groups ahead of Chuseok.
According to sources in the financial sector on the 23rd, Shinhan Financial Group held the 'Hope-Sharing Chuseok Mutual-Support Campaign' from the 15th to the 18th.
The 'Hope-Sharing Chuseok Mutual-Support Campaign' is a volunteer initiative in which group employees use their lunch breaks to purchase goods at nearby traditional markets while supporting small-business owners and vulnerable groups.
The campaign drew about 2,000 group employees. They used a total of 100 million won worth of Onnuri Gift Certificates to purchase daily necessities, hygiene products and stationery needed by children and older adults.
This year, a participatory program was also introduced to provide more practical assistance to traditional-market merchants by encouraging employees to visit various stores within the markets. Key rings made from keycaps bearing Shinhan's branding were given out along with the purchased goods, adding a small touch of joy for vulnerable children who received them.
The holding company and the bank held their mutual-support campaign at Namdaemun Market; the securities, asset management and fund-partners affiliates held theirs at Yeongdeungpo Market; and the card, life, capital, savings bank, DS, REITs management and EZ non-life insurance affiliates held theirs at Gwangjang Market.
A Shinhan Financial Group official said, "Chuseok is a meaningful holiday for sharing warm feelings with our neighbors. Shinhan Financial Group will continue to carry out various social contribution activities that promote consumption at traditional markets and support vulnerable groups, putting mutual growth with local communities into practice."
