Hongcheon County to Support Women Farmers Not Selected for Welfare Vouchers, Accelerating Pledge Fulfillment

[Financial News | Hongcheon = Kim Ki-seop] Women farmers in Hongcheon who applied during the first half of this year but did not receive welfare vouchers because the available quota was insufficient are expected to receive additional support.
According to Hongcheon County on the 23rd, the county decided to include additional project funding in the second supplementary budget to fulfill Governor Shin Young-jae's pledge to provide welfare vouchers to all women farmers. If the budget is finalized after review and approval by the Hongcheon County Council, vouchers will also be provided to women farmers who applied during the first half of the year but were excluded because applications exceeded the allocated quota.
The welfare voucher program supports the cultural and welfare activities of women farmers who shoulder household chores and caregiving along with farming, with the aim of improving their quality of life. This year, applications again exceeded the program's capacity, leaving some women farmers without the benefits.
However, the eligibility criteria for the existing program will also apply to the additional selection. Those who are not registered as agricultural management entities, do not actually engage in farming, or already receive similar welfare services, such as the Integrated Cultural Pass (Culture Nuri Card), forestry worker vouchers, or fishery worker vouchers, will be excluded.
Shin Young-jae, governor of Hongcheon County, said, "The future of rural areas can continue only when the lives of women farmers who shoulder both farming and household chores and caregiving improve," adding, "I will work hard to secure supplementary budget funding so that no one who failed to receive a voucher because the first-half quota was insufficient is left unsupported."
