Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City: "Starting in October, Eco-Friendly Vehicle Toll Discounts on the Gwangju Second Beltway Will Apply to All Special City Residents"

[Financial News, Jeonnam-Gwangju — Reporter Hwang Tae-jong] Starting in October, eco-friendly vehicle toll discounts on the Gwangju Second Beltway will apply to all residents of Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City.
 According to Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Metropolitan City) on the 23rd, eco-friendly vehicle toll discounts on the Second Beltway will be expanded from the existing five autonomous districts in the Gwangju area to the entire integrated special city starting October 1.
 Accordingly, eco-friendly vehicles such as electric, hydrogen and solar-powered vehicles whose registered principal place of use is located anywhere in the integrated special city will be eligible for toll discounts on the Gwangju Second Beltway. Toll discounts for vehicles operated by disability organizations will continue to apply, as before, to vehicles registered nationwide.
 Seo Suk-hyun, head of the Road Division at Gwangju Metropolitan City, emphasized, "We expanded eco-friendly vehicle toll discounts across the entire integrated special city so that residents can feel the effects of the Jeonnam-Gwangju administrative integration first in their daily lives."
 The expansion of the discount benefits follows the passage on the 18th of the Ordinance on the Collection and Operation of Toll Fees and Related Matters of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City at a plenary session of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Special Metropolitan Council.
 However, the discount rate will be adjusted in stages, taking into account the direction of the government's eco-friendly vehicle toll discount policy under the Toll Road Act and practices nationwide. The current rate of 50% will remain in effect through the end of this year before being lowered to 30% starting January 1 next year. Small vehicles will pay 600 won through this year and 840 won from next year; midsize vehicles will pay 1,150 won through this year and 1,610 won from next year; and large vehicles will pay 1,450 won through this year and 2,030 won from next year.
 Meanwhile, Gwangju Metropolitan City will expand the application counters from the existing Gwangju City Hall to the Muan Government Complex and Eastern Government Complex to improve convenience and administrative access for residents applying for the discount.
