[Financial News] Emart is partnering with Gyeonggi Province to launch the 'Fresh Just Give' program, which provides eco-friendly agricultural products to vulnerable residents. The initiative is designed to both expand sales channels for local farmers and improve the diets of vulnerable groups.
According to industry sources on the 23rd, Emart signed a business agreement with Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Council on Social Welfare on the 22nd at the Gwangmyeong branch of the Gwangmyeong Food Bank Market Center. Emart will provide KRW 200 million annually for three years starting this year, for a total of KRW 600 million.
'Fresh Just Give' is a program that uses Emart's donations to purchase eco-friendly agricultural products grown in Gyeonggi Province and distribute them to residents in need. The Gyeonggi Council on Social Welfare will purchase the products in cooperation with the Gyeonggi Agro-Fisheries Promotion Agency and provide them through 21 'Just Give' sites across 17 cities and counties in the province.
The initiative expands on the 'Fresh Table' program that Emart and Gyeonggi Province have operated since 2023. Emart provided a total of KRW 600 million to the program over the past three years.
In addition, Emart has provided food and daily necessities to vulnerable local residents through the 'Hope Delivery Cart' program since 2013. Combined with 'Fresh Table,' its support has reached approximately 92,000 households and amounted to about KRW 3.4 billion.
Han Chae-yang, CEO of Emart, said, "We hope the 'Fresh Just Give' program will establish itself as a model of mutual growth that supports healthy diets for vulnerable groups while also helping expand sales channels for local farmers."
