[Financial News] Hankook Tire received a top social contribution award for its ongoing donations of tires and support for healthcare and education in Hungary. Since 2012, it has donated more than 30,000 tires to local relief organizations and other groups. The company is also expanding its support to include health screenings for local residents and talent development around its production facilities.
Hankook Tire & Technology said on the 23rd that it had received the grand prize at the 2nd CSR Activities Awards for Korean Companies in Hungary, held in Budapest on the 18th.
Hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Hungary, the event was organized to recognize outstanding social contribution activities by Korean companies operating locally and to share best practices. Hankook Tire received the award for the second consecutive year, following last year's Community Contribution Award.
The Hankook Tire Hungary plant runs community-support initiatives in three areas: social contribution, health and wellness, and education. Its efforts focus on providing sustained support tailored to the needs of local institutions and residents.
The flagship initiative is the Hankook Értékteremtő Program, launched in 2012. To date, the company has donated more than 30,000 tires to approximately 2,800 national institutions and nonprofit organizations, including the Hungarian National Ambulance Service and the Hungarian Red Cross. The initiative helps ensure the safe operation of emergency vehicles and enables rapid response at emergency sites.
The company is also continuing its healthcare support for local residents. In May, it held a Public Health Screening Day, providing more than 400 residents with screening services, including blood pressure and blood glucose measurements and comprehensive examinations.
In education, the company provides school supplies to children from disadvantaged backgrounds and works with local vocational schools and universities to help improve educational infrastructure. It also runs industry-academia cooperation programs that combine internships and scholarships, allowing students to gain practical experience while pursuing their studies.
In addition to Hungary, Hankook Tire operates community-support programs tailored to local conditions at its global production bases in the United States, China, and Indonesia. Its initiatives include tire donations and employee volunteer activities, as well as education for future generations, support for vulnerable groups, and improvements to healthcare infrastructure.
