Kim Hye-kyung Poses for Photos Beside Melania, Attends Luncheon for Leaders' Spouses

According to Ahn Gwi-ryeong, deputy spokesperson for the Presidential Office, Kim Hye-kyung was visiting New York with President Lee Jae Myung for the 81st UN General Assembly High-Level Week. She attended a luncheon event for the Fostering the Future Together (FTFT) coalition at The St. Regis Hotel that day.
The FTFT coalition is a cooperative network of spouses of heads of state launched by Melania Trump last year during the 80th UN General Assembly. It aims to support children in growing up healthy in the digital age through education, innovation and technology. Spouses of leaders from around 50 countries currently participate, while global technology companies including Meta, Google and OpenAI have joined as partners.
The South Korean government decided to join the coalition during the South Korea-U.S. summit last October.
Melania Trump welcomed Kim Hye-kyung and the spouses of leaders from various countries at the event, saying, "The future of the world will be determined by what we do for children today."
After thanking Melania Trump for organizing the luncheon, Kim Hye-kyung mentioned attending the coalition's launch reception last year. She said, "The coalition has grown rapidly based on a shared understanding that advances in digital technology should lead to a better future for our children."
She continued, "The challenges of the digital transformation cannot be solved through the efforts of any one country alone," stressing the need for a joint response from the international community.
Kim Hye-kyung also introduced South Korea's related policies and efforts, saying, "South Korea is also making diverse efforts to promote digital education that expands learning opportunities while protecting children's safety."
