North Korean UN Delegation Leaves Seat for President Lee's Speech After Listening to Trump's Remarks

[Financial News] On the 22nd (local time), the North Korean delegation attending the United Nations General Assembly took their seats and watched U.S. President Donald Trump's speech. In contrast, they left their seats during President Lee Jae Myung's speech.
President Trump took the podium second during the general debate of the high-level session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly held at United Nations Headquarters in New York on this day and delivered a speech for about 38 minutes. At the time of the speech, two North Korean diplomats listened to him in the main chamber. North Korea's Ambassador to the UN, Kim Song, did not attend the speech.
Facing diplomatic difficulties as the war with Iran dragged on, President Trump suddenly shifted the topic last month by mentioning North Korea and Chairman Kim Jong Un. On the 16th of last month, President Trump described North Korea as "a country that respects, does not threaten, the United States" on the social media platform Truth Social, and announced that he would scale back joint South Korea-U.S. military exercises. In the same month, he claimed that Chairman Kim had "responded" to his offer for dialogue and stated that he would meet with Chairman Kim within the year.
President Trump, who mentioned North Korea in his UN speeches from 2017 to 2019, did not mention North Korea in this year's speech.
North Korean diplomats who watched President Trump's speech did not attend President Lee Jae Myung's speech on the afternoon of the 22nd. The North Korean side also did not appear in the main assembly hall during President Lee Jae Myung's UN speech last year.
In addition, the North Korean delegation changed the seats assigned by the UN in the main assembly hall and moved to a location further away from the South Korean delegation. The seats assigned to North Korea were the 10th row from the front at the far left end of the podium. However, on this day, the North Korean delegation moved to the second row from the very end at the far right end. North Korea's speech during the general debate is scheduled for the 28th, and it is reported that Kim Son-kyong, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, will take the podium.
