Bae Hyun-jin: "You criticized Kim Keon Hee over a Yongwang-gut (Dragon King shamanic ritual) ... but President Lee used more water than Yoon"

[Financial News] Tap-water consumption at the presidential residence in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, reached 8,612 tons during the year after President Lee Jae Myung moved in last June.
According to the Hannam-dong residence's water bills obtained on the 22nd by Bae Hyun-jin, a People Power Party lawmaker, the residence used a total of 8,612 tons of water during the year from June 5, 2025, when President Lee moved in. Water bills paid during the same period totaled 28.61 million won.
In the first year after former President Yoon Suk Yeol moved into the Hannam-dong residence on Nov. 7, 2022, tap-water consumption totaled 7,406 tons, while water bills came to 23.59 million won.
Comparing the two presidents' respective first years, consumption during President Lee's tenure was 1,206 tons (16.3%) higher, while water bills were 5.02 million won (21.3%) higher.
The People Power Party argued that the current government should also explain the increase, pointing to the various allegations the Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) had raised during former President Yoon's tenure based on the residence's water consumption and other figures.
At the time, the DPK raised questions about the residence's water bills, saying, "Could it have been because a dog pool was being cleaned?" and "Did Kim Keon Hee perform a Yongwang-gut (Dragon King shamanic ritual)?"
In June last year, DPK lawmaker Park Hong-keun unveiled a roughly 5-meter-long rectangular water-tank structure installed on the lawn, along with photos taken during a dinner at the residence attended by President Lee and the DPK leadership. Park said attendees had speculated, "Isn't that a dog pool?"
Jeon Hyun-hee, also a DPK lawmaker, said in a media interview, "There is a pool-like structure in the middle of the outdoor lawn at the residence that does not fit in with its surroundings," adding, "Many lawmakers repeatedly said, 'This really looks like a dog pool.'" She continued, "Some even talked about a 'Yongwang-gut (Dragon King shamanic ritual).'"
Bae said, "The DPK listed absurd allegations based solely on water consumption. Yet President Lee actually used more tap water at the Hannam-dong residence than former President Yoon."
Bae emphasized, "President Lee must personally explain to the public why tap-water consumption was higher and how long he plans to use the Hannam-dong residence."
