Kim Bong-gon: "My Daughter Respected Sim Soo-bong... It Broke My Heart to See Her Sobbing"

[Financial News] Trot singer Kim Dahyun, 17, cried after hearing senior singer Sim Soo-bong, 71, publicly criticize her, her father Kim Bong-gon, 58, said. She was reportedly particularly shocked because she had long respected Sim Soo-bong.
According to the entertainment industry on the 22nd, Kim Bong-gon explained the circumstances after receiving word through several media outlets the previous day that Sim Soo-bong's side intended to apologize.
Kim Dahyun's family was reportedly watching a livestream of the performance in a car while traveling to the next event venue.
Kim Bong-gon said his daughter began crying after hearing Sim Soo-bong's criticism firsthand. He said, "After monitoring her own performance, I think it was probably Sim Soo-bong's turn next. Suddenly, I heard a startled sound," adding, "I asked what was wrong, but she did not say anything. Instead, she played the video and held it up in front of me. As I was listening to it, I heard crying from behind me."
Kim Bong-gon also said that his daughter had long respected Sim Soo-bong. He said, "My daughter kept crying alone for a long time. It honestly broke my heart to see her sobbing like that," adding, "Dahyun likes Sim Soo-bong and is, in fact, one of her admirers. When she held her first nationwide concert tour, she chose Sim Soo-bong's 'A Million Roses.' She practiced the song on the piano and sang it."
He continued, "From what I saw, I think the shock was quite severe."
Earlier, at the Jinan Gowan Trot Festival held in North Jeolla Province on the 20th, Sim Soo-bong said of Kim Dahyun, "a young woman who knows nothing about singing or life" and "Don't put her in front of me."
As criticism continued over her public remarks about a junior singer, Sim Soo-bong apologized, saying, "They were inappropriate remarks that went beyond common sense. I apologize for hurting a junior artist."
Kim Dahyun's side said it would accept Sim Soo-bong's apology. It added, "We will comfort her so that she can overcome the hurt. She will continue her scheduled activities without disruption."
