"13 doses of medication a day... I cared for her for seven years while changing her diapers": Tae Jin-ah shares an update on caring for his wife with dementia

[Financial News] Singer Tae Jin-ah shared an update, saying he has cut more than 90% of his outside activities while caring for his wife, Lee Ok-hyeong, who has been battling dementia for seven years.
Tae Jin-ah appeared on the Chuseok special of CGN's YouTube program "THE NEW Haneulbit Hyanggi" on the 22nd and spoke about his daily life. He said he is currently caring for his wife, who has dementia, adding, "I have to give her about 13 kinds of medication, divided into about 13 doses a day."
He also explained that he has to change her diaper briefs himself because she no longer has the cognitive ability to use the bathroom alone. Since he has to watch over and care for her around the clock, Tae Jin-ah said he has naturally reduced his television appearances, events and other public activities.
"About 90% of the 100% of my activities has disappeared. Only about 10% remains," Tae Jin-ah said. He added, "The remaining 90% has to be spent by my wife's side," explaining that he effectively spends his time constantly caring for her.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Tae Jin-ah continues to show his love by writing songs himself and singing them repeatedly so that his wife with dementia can remember them more easily. "She is someone who has the right to receive everything from me," Tae Jin-ah said. "I have a duty to do anything for her."
Meanwhile, Tae Jin-ah married Lee Ok-hyeong in 1981, and they have two sons. Their younger son, Eru, is widely known as a singer and actor.
