"A 30-second Botox procedure, three hours of anesthesia, and a 2.7 million won charge" ... More victims emerge in 'Gangnam dermatology clinic' case

[Financial News] Under the pretext of performing procedures, a Gangnam dermatology clinic allegedly put customers to sleep for several hours and charged them additional fees. More victims have come forward saying they experienced similar treatment at the clinic.
According to a JTBC report on the 22nd, a woman in her 20s, identified as A, visited the dermatology clinic in Nonhyeon-dong in February last year.
The clinic recommended skin Botox injections in her neck, and A signed a consent form for sedation before the procedure.
She initially understood that the procedure would take 30 minutes, but when she regained consciousness, three hours had passed. The procedure fee had also increased from 1.2 million won to 2.7 million won.
A described what happened at the time, saying, "I asked the dermatology clinic to show me all the CCTV footage, payment records, and receipts. 'You made the payment, didn't you?' I said. Then they told me, 'Legally, I have no reason to show you the CCTV footage.'"
The consent form provided by the clinic had none of the required information filled in, including the patient's name, contact details, and the attending doctor's name.
A lawyer who reviewed the form pointed out that it was "a consent form with no legal validity."
A eventually sued the dermatology clinic for damages, and on the 11th, a court ordered it to pay 10 million won in compensation.
There was another victim. Earlier this month, another woman in her 20s received sedation at 7 p.m. and woke up to find that more than six hours had passed. A procedure that had originally cost 1.6 million won was charged at 12.8 million won.
What was particularly shocking was that she even called an acquaintance during the procedure to borrow money. However, her voice on the call recording sounded incoherent.
In the recording, B said, "I'm sorry, but I'll pay you back next month, so send me 6 million won. They say it's 3 million, 6 million, or 10 million here. They say it won't work unless you do that." The acquaintance reacted with surprise, saying, "Why are you suddenly asking for 6 million won? What are you talking about?"
The victims are reportedly planning to gather evidence and take legal action.
