[New York Stock Market] Nasdaq Extends Record Run on Semiconductor Strength; Micron Surges 5%

The New York stock market finished mixed on the 22nd (local time).
Technology stocks, led by semiconductor shares, gained, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which comprises 30 large blue-chip stocks, declined.
Amid strength in technology stocks, the Nasdaq set a record high for the second consecutive session.
Micron Technology rose 5.0%, while the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF (SOXL), a leveraged exchange-traded fund that tracks three times the daily movement of a semiconductor index, surged more than 7%.
Nasdaq Alone Sets a New Record
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 185.03 points, or 0.36%, from the previous session to close at 51,863.80. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index (S&P 500) slipped 0.06 points, or 0.00%, to finish at 7,764.64.
By contrast, the Nasdaq rose 122.18 points, or 0.45%, to 27,244.28, setting a record high for the second consecutive session.
The Nasdaq-100, which comprises 100 large technology stocks, also gained 250.04 points, or 0.82%, to close at 30,732.40.
The ProShares UltraPro QQQ (TQQQ), an ETF that tracks three times the Nasdaq-100's daily movement, ended the session at $80.83, up $1.92, or 2.43%.
Semiconductor Stocks Gain
Semiconductor stocks continued to perform strongly.
NVIDIA, the sector leader, rose $1.49, or 0.66%, to $228.87, while Micron Technology surged $52.20, or 5.00%, to $1,096.16.
SanDisk also jumped $120.40, or 6.82%, to $1,887.04, while Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) gained $8.25, or 1.34%, to close at $623.77.
SOXL, a leveraged semiconductor ETF, surged $10.12, or 7.14%, to $151.96. SOXL has soared 50.3% over the six trading sessions since the 15th.
Big Tech Mixed
Big Tech stocks moved in different directions.
Tesla gained $3.69, or 0.98%, to close at $378.90, while Palantir Technologies rose $1.92, or 1.05%, to $184.99.
Apple also rose $0.77, or 0.23%, to $339.75, while SpaceX gained $2.87, or 1.89%, to finish at $154.72.
Alphabet, by contrast, fell $3.81, or 1.07%, to $351.16, while Microsoft (MS) declined $3.61, or 0.72%, to close at $498.00.
Meta Platforms also slipped $4.65, or 0.63%, to $736.59.
