Trump Flatly Rejects 'AI Regulation' at the United Nations (UN)... 'Superintelligence' to Appear in Official Documents

[Financial News] Donald Trump, president of the United States, has outright rejected international calls to control or slow the pace of artificial intelligence (AI) development. He officially declared that all United States government documents would use the term "Superintelligence (SI)" instead of "Artificial Intelligence (AI)." Trump made clear his determination not to restrain the growth of a technological innovation greater than the Industrial Revolution and the internet, while maintaining an overwhelming lead over China in the global technology race.
In his keynote address at the 81st UN General Assembly held at United Nations headquarters in New York on Sept. 22 (local time), Trump strongly criticized global efforts to regulate AI.
Trump said, "The United States completely rejects any attempt to devise an international scheme to control AI," and directly attacked the effort, saying, "The same forces as those who previously claimed the 'Russia hoax,' 'Ukraine hoax,' 'climate change' and 'open borders' are now warning about AI development and plotting a globalist conspiracy." He added, "I will never suppress the growth of something that will become bigger than the Industrial Revolution or the internet itself."
Trump drew particular attention by unexpectedly announcing a rebranding of the term AI itself.
He noted, "The word 'artificial' makes it sound as though the intelligence is fake, but it is by no means fake; it is truly amazing technology." He then called for a worldwide change, saying, "From now on, all official documents of the United States will replace 'artificial' with the much more accurate term 'super' and rename it 'Superintelligence (SI),' and I hope all documents around the world will be changed likewise."
The speech was interpreted as a declaration of the United States' firm resolve to maintain its lead in advanced technology ahead of Xi Jinping's three-day state visit to the United States, which begins on Sept. 23.
Trump emphasized, "The one who wins in Superintelligence (SI) will ultimately be the final winner," adding, "We are currently far ahead of everyone, including China, and we will continue to maintain this advantage." The Trump administration has repeatedly championed an all-out push to accelerate development, characterizing recent warnings from Big Tech and academia that AI could spiral out of control as "pathological attempts to block data centers and technological progress."
