President Lee Approves Appointments of Lee So-young as SMEs and Startups Minister and Lee Jung-hyun as Deputy Prosecutor General

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung, who is visiting New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, approved the appointments of Lee So-young as minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and Lee Jung-hyun as deputy prosecutor general of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office of the Republic of Korea on Sept. 22 (local time).
Kang Yoo-jung, a senior spokesperson for the Blue House, announced in a media notice that President Lee had approved the appointments of the two officials on Sept. 22 Korea time.
The National Assembly Trade, Industry, Energy, SMEs, and Startups Committee adopted Lee’s personnel-hearing report by agreement between the ruling and opposition parties during its plenary session that day. The decision came 19 days after President Lee submitted the personnel-hearing request to the National Assembly on Sept. 3. Lee served as a lawmaker in the 21st and 22nd National Assemblies after working at Kim & Chang and the climate and energy think tank Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC).
Lee Jung-hyun, who was appointed alongside her, is a member of the 27th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute. He has served as first deputy chief prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, head of the Public Investigation Department at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office of the Republic of Korea, and chief prosecutor of the Suwon High Prosecutors’ Office.
