IRAN Says It Will Reopen the Strait of Hormuz Within 7 Days If the United States Eases Military Pressure, Signaling a Resumption of Talks

[Financial News] IRAN has reportedly conveyed to the United States that it could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within a week if Washington eases its military pressure. The move is viewed as a diplomatic effort to restart negotiations between the two countries, which have reached an impasse.
According to Kyodo News and other outlets on the 22nd, a senior IRANian government official said IRAN could reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the United States takes initial steps to reduce its military pressure.
This is interpreted as a sign that IRAN intends to intensify its diplomatic efforts to resume dialogue with the United States.
According to the official, IRAN's proposal, which had already been conveyed to the United States through mediating countries, called for the resumption of talks aimed at permanently ending hostilities between the two countries.
The IRANian government plans to hold related consultations with mediating countries on the occasion of the United Nations General Assembly, which will take place in New York this week.
The official ruled out the possibility of a meeting between IRANian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump on the occasion of the assembly, but said progress remained possible. He said, "To make diplomatic progress, the United States must demonstrate sincerity and a willingness to honor its commitments."
Meanwhile, IRANian President Masoud Pezeshkian reiterated his hard-line stance as he left the country that day to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
According to IRAN's state broadcaster, President Pezeshkian said, "We held our heads high and prevailed, and this is a source of our dignity and pride," adding, "We will firmly defend our position on the international stage."
