[Financial News] Woori Financial Group will provide 3 billion won over the next three years to help youth preparing for independent living and isolated and reclusive youth enter society, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The group plans to provide tailored support throughout the entire process, from identifying young people and preparing them for employment to providing work experience and helping them settle into society.
On the 22nd, Woori Financial Group announced that it had signed an MOU with MOHW and the Community Chest of Korea to implement the Youth S.T.E.P. project at the Community Chest of Korea in Jung District, Seoul.
Youth S.T.E.P. is a project that identifies vulnerable youth entering society, including youth preparing for independent living and isolated and reclusive youth, and supports them from employment preparation through social settlement. Woori Financial Group will provide a total of 3 billion won over the next three years. The funds will be administered through a designated-donation arrangement with the Community Chest of Korea.
Jong-ryong Yim, chairman of Woori Financial Group, said, "We will be a strong link so that young people can take their first steps into society without giving up on their dreams," adding, "We will continue our genuine social contribution efforts for socially disadvantaged people."
Rather than providing one-time assistance, the project supports the entire process tailored to each young person's circumstances, from identification and preparation to experience and settlement.
The program's name, Youth S.T.E.P., also reflects this approach. △ At the Screening stage, participants are identified, given an initial assessment and counseling, and supported in developing an independent-living plan. △ At the Training stage, they receive psychological counseling and training in social and workplace adaptation. △ At the Experience stage, they are connected with actual work experience and employment opportunities. △ The Partnership stage continues after employment with follow-up care to help them adjust to the workplace and maintain their jobs.
Meanwhile, Youth S.T.E.P. is the first public-private partnership project under MOHW's Everyone's Connection Project. Everyone's Connection is a public-private partnership initiative through which the government, businesses, and the welfare sector work together to identify social issues and develop solutions. Woori Financial Group is participating as its first corporate partner.
