"Iran Proposes Reopening Strait of Hormuz Within 7 Days to Resume Talks with the United States"

[Financial News] Iran has proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz within seven days in exchange for a reduction in U.S. military pressure, Kyodo News reported on the 22nd (local time), in an effort to revive stalled negotiations with the United States to end the war.
A senior Iranian government official told Kyodo News that Iran had proposed reopening the Strait of Hormuz within a week if the United States took initial steps to ease military pressure. 
The proposal is viewed as a sign that Iran intends to further intensify its diplomatic efforts to resume dialogue with the United States.
According to the official, Iran's proposal, which had already been conveyed to the United States through mediating countries, called for the resumption of dialogue to permanently end hostilities between the two countries.
The Iranian government plans to hold consultations with mediating countries during the United Nations General Assembly, which is being held in New York this week.
The official dismissed the possibility of a meeting between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump during the General Assembly, but said progress toward an agreement between the two countries remained possible.
He said, "There remains a possibility of moving toward an agreement," adding, "To make diplomatic progress, the United States must show sincerity and a willingness to honor its commitments."
Before departing to attend the United Nations General Assembly, President Pezeshkian said in an interview with state television, "I will strongly present Iran's position on the international stage."
He said, "At this United Nations General Assembly, I will focus on raising the injustices suffered by the Iranian people, the crimes committed over the years, and the issue of distrust created in the international community."
President Pezeshkian continued, "The enemies are trying to block every channel to force the Iranian people to surrender. Having failed to achieve their goal through military means, they are seeking to weaken us from within," emphasizing, "We will certainly thwart the enemies' schemes through harmony and unity."
