According to the design industry on the 22nd, razor maker DORCO recently received a main prize in the Corporate Design and Identity category at the globally prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2026 for its corporate identity (CI) renewal project.
Through its CI renewal project, DORCO redefined its corporate identity based on its 70-year-old brand heritage and vision for the future. Centered on its brand core, 'Leading Edge,' the company overhauled its logo, color system and graphic system to express DORCO's precision and technological expertise through a consistent design.
DORCO's facial care brand TINKLE was named a finalist in the Branding category at the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) 2026.
TINKLE expanded beyond its original focus on eyebrow razors into dermaplaning and redefined its brand system. Based on its key concept, 'The Bright Energy of Movement,' the brand developed graphic motifs and a color system inspired by the movement of its products. It also established design guidelines to provide a consistent brand experience across its product lineup, packaging and digital content.
A DORCO official said, "The consecutive wins at globally renowned design awards are the result of DORCO's precise technological expertise, upheld for 70 years, and its forward-looking design philosophy being recognized on the global stage." The official added, "We will continue integrated design innovation from corporate CI through product branding to further solidify our brand position in global markets."
The work produced by the Korea Institute of Design Promotion (KIDP)'s design talent development program, 'Korea Design Membership Plus (KDM+),' is also achieving results on the global stage. An industry-academia collaboration project conducted with Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) won both the Best of the Best and a main prize in the Design Concept category at the Red Dot Design Award 2026.
KDM+ selects promising design students from across the country and provides them with opportunities to participate in industry-academia collaboration projects, practice-oriented training and global projects. KIDP and Hankook Tire have conducted annual industry-academia collaboration projects since 2023 to nurture design professionals with practical expertise and discover innovative ideas in the future mobility sector.
'Medi Buddy,' selected as this year's Best of the Best, is a smart IV stand design that interacts with hospitalized children and provides psychological comfort. It incorporates smart cruise detection sensors and a five-wheel drive system based on Wheelbot to encourage users to walk independently.
