TS, General Insurance Association of Korea Launch Chuseok Traffic Safety Campaign at 17 Nationwide Locations

[Financial News] Korea Transportation Safety Authority (TS) and the General Insurance Association of Korea will conduct a traffic safety campaign at 17 locations nationwide, including highway rest areas, railway stations and bus terminals, to prevent accidents during Chuseok holiday travel.
On the 22nd, TS announced that it would hold the "Chuseok Holiday: Practicing Traffic Safety for an Accident-Free Day" campaign for two days, from that day through the 23rd. 
The event will involve the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT), the Korean National Police Agency, Korea Expressway Corporation, Korea Road Traffic Authority (KoROAD), and transport and volunteer organizations. The campaign will raise awareness of the increased risk of accidents caused by heavier Chuseok traffic and long-distance driving, while providing safety guidance on site.
On the first day, campaigns will be held at Tongdosa Service Area, Gapyeong Service Area and Hoengseong Resting Stop, as well as Busan Station and Cheongnyangni Station. On the 23rd, events will continue at Seoul Mannamui Gwangjang Service Area, Gosam Lake Service Area, Oksan Service Area, Baekyangsa Service Area, Iksan Mireuksaji Service Area and Jinyeong Service Area, along with Busan Seobu Terminal, Dongdaegu Station Square, Ulsan Intercity Bus Terminal, Cheongju Intercity Bus Terminal and the rental car center at Jeju International Airport.
Visitors to the campaign sites can receive traffic safety-rule leaflets, wet wipes, and toothpaste-and-toothbrush sets.
TS urged drivers to periodically ventilate their vehicles and stretch, warning that fatigue can build up during long-distance driving and highway congestion, increasing the risk of drowsy driving. It also stressed the need to stop at rest areas or drowsiness shelters and get sufficient rest.
Drivers should ensure that everyone in the vehicle wears a seat belt and must not speed or drive under the influence of alcohol. They should check the vehicle's condition before departure and take regular breaks during long-distance trips.
Yong-Sik Jung, chairman of TS, said, "As the Chuseok holiday is a time when long-distance travel is common and the risk of traffic accidents rises, every individual must practice safe driving to protect the precious lives of their families."
