Woori Bank Takes 'Steps Toward Peace,' Following in Kim Gu's Footsteps

[Financial News] Woori Bank held a walking event to mark the 150th anniversary of Kim Gu's birth, reflect on the value of peace, and highlight the importance of preserving cultural heritage.
Woori Bank announced on the 22nd that it held the commemorative walking event on the 21st, World Peace Day, together with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO. The event took place around the Kim Koo Museum & Library and Hyochang Park in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
The event was organized after UNESCO designated this year as a commemorative year marking the 150th anniversary of Kim Gu's birth. Held alongside it, the '2026 Together Walking Campaign' carried the slogan 'Peace We Create, Heritage We Protect.' The campaign was intended to carry forward through participants' footsteps the spirit of Kim Gu, who pursued peace through the 'power of culture.'
Woori Bank President and CEO Jin-owan Jung said, "It is deeply meaningful to reflect on the value of peace with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO and join forces to protect World Heritage as we mark the 150th anniversary of Kim Gu's birth." He added, "Woori Bank, which began in 1899 with national capital, will continue to provide unwavering support for preserving cultural heritage and creating a sustainable society so that future generations can grow with cultural pride."
Woori Bank signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korean National Commission for UNESCO in April and has been supporting cultural heritage preservation projects, including the walking campaign. Through November, its employees also plan to take part in the campaign, visiting World Heritage sites across the country—including Changdeokgung Palace Complex, The Fortress, and Bulguksa—through the volunteer platform WE:TH (With). They will also raise awareness of the importance of cultural heritage preservation by sharing their experiences on social media. 
Meanwhile, Woori Bank has launched the 'Our Wish' Fixed Deposit and Installment Savings products as participation-based financial products commemorating the 150th anniversary of Kim Gu's birth.
